About Us:
We are excited and grateful that you are taking the time to learn more about us and our family. We cannot even begin to imagine all of the emotions you are experiencing as you make an adoption plan for your baby. We admire your strength and courage. As you read more about us, we hope to ease some of the weight that’s resting on your shoulders and that through this process you find exactly what you are looking for.
We want you to know that if you choose us to be your baby’s adoptive parents we will give everything that we have. We will share with this child all the unconditional love and adventure that he or she could ever ask for. We also look forward to getting to know you and your family.
Our Story:
We have known each other almost our entire lives. Our families were close friends growing up and we spent a lot of time together when we were younger. But it wasn’t until 1991 when we stood up together in Julie’s brother’s wedding that we realized something wonderful was happening between us. We began dating shortly afterwards and soon we were inseparable. We were married on a beautiful Fall day in November of 1998.
We are not only husband and wife, but truly best friends. We enjoy doing everything together from fishing to camping, from landscaping to home remodeling, from traveling to relaxing at home, to all things in between. We just love experiencing the adventure of life together.
In 2009, we adopted our son, Alexander, from Guatemala and became a family of three. Even though Alex was not able to physically join our family until he was 20 months old, we loved him the moment we set eyes on his 10 day old picture. Alex is truly a blessing and a gift from God. We would love to give him the opportunity to be a big brother. He is pretty excited about it too!
About Tim:
Tim is a very loving person, has a great sense of humor and is fun to be around. He is very supportive and a great partner in life. He is extremely reliable, honest and hard-working – at both home and at work. It is amazing all of the things he can accomplish when it comes to creating and fixing things. When Tim sets his mind to something, he makes it happen. Tim is a facility manager at a local medical supply company. He enjoys the challenges that his job brings and is a hard worker.
Fishing is Tim’s favorite free-time activity. He even dreams of one day being a professional tournament fisherman. Fishing is also one of our favorite family activities too. Some of Tim’s favorite memories of his Dad are the times they spent together fishing. He now looks forward to passing that experience on to Alex as well.
Tim has always been a “kid magnet”. He loves to goof around, be silly and play with kids. He does it on their level and they just love it! He is a great father, knowing how to mix having fun with patience and love. Alex’s favorite time of day is when Daddy comes home from work and he can greet him with a big hug.
About Julie:
Julie is the foundation that keeps our family strong. She is a loving wife and nurturing mother. She provides the stability in our family that enables us to make anything possible. She approaches challenges “head-on”, knowing the difficulties she may face before realizing success. Julie’s determination and willingness to try new things has opened doors for our family that we once thought were unattainable.
Julie spent 10 years as a middle school teacher before becoming a high school counselor in 2005. She has always had a passion for working with kids and helping them find their way in life. Her career also allows flexibility for making family her number one priority. Julie is bright and creative. Her relationships with friends and family are very important. She has a warm and positive energy and can see the good in every situation.
As a mom, Julie is a natural. She is instinctively nurturing and creates a warm, safe and loving home for our family. She is incredibly patient, creative and is always there for Alex on every level. The teacher in her comes out when she is working with Alex on learning something new or when reading bedtime stories. She is very excited about the opportunity to share these things with another child in our family.
Alex:
Alex is the sunshine of our lives. When he arrived, it taught us the true value of a family. From his beautiful smile, to him running into our arms with big hugs, we are reminded every day how blessed we are to have him in our lives. Alex is full of energy. He loves to be doing things…he loves puzzles, books, coloring, playing outside, hockey and most of all being silly. Alex shares our enthusiasm for the outdoors. He is also very excited about adding a brother or sister to our family.
Our Home and Community:
Our home is very special to us. It has become the perfect place for us to raise our family. We have plenty of space inside, including a huge playroom for times when the weather isn’t so great outside. We have a big backyard with lots of room to run and play. Our house is usually the hang out spot for all of our friends and their kids and we love to have them around.
We live in a small community with is located between two medium-sized cities. Our community is pretty rural, but within ten minutes of shopping, entertainment and Lake Michigan. Our town has lots to offer – beautiful parks, excellent schools, friendly people, and a lot of history. Our neighborhood has many young families with children, so it is a great place to raise a family.
