Understanding God's Plan

Many women struggle to understand their unplanned pregnancy in the context of God’s plan for their lives. There is a misconception that placing a child for adoption goes against God’s will and that God would never have allowed you to get pregnant if He did not desire that child to be raised by you. The Bible makes it clear that adoption can be part of God’s plan for you and for your child. Adoption is at the very heart of God.

While God's plan for you may or may not involve placing your child with another family, it is true that He often uses women in your position to bless couples who are unable to have children.

As you read scripture and seek God’s wisdom through prayer, you will see that scripture has many examples of children who were adopted that grew up to be great leaders and servants of God. The story of Moses in Exodus 2:5-10 shows how his biological mother placed Moses with Pharaoh’s daughter because it was in his best interest. Moses later grew up and led the Israelites out of slavery to accomplish God’s plan. God can and does work through adoption to accomplish His will.

The story of Esther is another inspiring example of God's hand in adoption.

"For I know well the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for woe to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)
